Therapy for Teens and Adolescents

Prior to starting my private practice, I worked several years with school-based Counseling Partners of Los Angeles. Since then, I’ve helped countless teens address issues like anxiety and peer conflict in addition to helping them with social skills.

The first and vital part of the work I do with teens is rapport-building. My genuine interest in things teenagers care about (sports, music, etc.) gives me an edge at this. From here, we’ll begin addressing the issue that brought your kiddo to therapy.

Hi I’m Teddy,

I receive a lot of calls from parents who tell me that Johnny didn’t like his first experience with therapy because it implied something was wrong with him. I seem to have success in a number of these “second go-around” instances, as I’m able to keep the mood cheerful while doing real, meaningful work.

Finally, a critical part of the work I do involves the parent-child relationship. As a team, we’ll work to ensure that it is one characterized by mutual accountability and respect. Though the parents or teen may not always like what I have to say (in a conjoint parent-child session, for instance) it means a lot to me that they often find me to be fair.
